2001-11-26, Keystrokes By Kerry - Local businesswoman, Kerry Atkins of Keystrokes by Kerry, has been named Home-Based Business Member of the Year by the North Central Connecticut Chamber of Commerce (NCCCC).Local businesswoman, Kerry Atkins of Keystrokes by Kerry, has been named Home-Based Business Member of the Year by the North Central Connecticut Chamber of Commerce (NCCCC). Atkins, who operates a successful administrative assistance and desktop publishing business, received the award in recognition for her outstanding service as an active, innovative member of the business community. The award was presented by Tom Morton, president of NCCCC, and Larry Tracy, past-president, during the Chamber’s annual meeting that took place at the La Renaissance in East Windsor on December 4th. Atkins started her business in 1998 with a keen commitment to customer satisfaction and community involvement. During her three years in business, she has lent a helping hand and provided assistance to Chamber members and committees, as well as other community organizations, whenever possible. As she and others have come to realize, giving time as a volunteer, particularly pro bono services related to one`s line of work, can pay big dividends to a small business. While Atkins insists it is still better to give than to receive, she is the first to admit that volunteering has benefited her as much as those she helps. "I attribute much of my professional success to NCCCC and am grateful for the local networking opportunities it has afforded me. I recommend it to anybody with a small business," she said. "Don`t look at volunteering and networking as a chore, but an opportunity to grow your business." The North Central Connecticut Chamber of Commerce, a business membership organization, represents 470 businesses and 600 members in Enfield, Suffield, Somers, East Windsor, East Granby, Granby, Windsor, and Windsor Locks. The principal goal of the organization is to promote economic growth and maintain a high quality of life for the residents in the region. In addition to the NCCCC, Kerry is active with several national and Online organizations, including the Association for Business Support Services, Inc.; The Executary Network; International Virtual Assistant Association, StaffCentrix, the Society for Human Resource Management; and Western New England Business Support Services. Atkins invites you to her website at http://www.keystrokesbykerry.com/ for additional information.
