Release by LOVE HUMANITY INDIA 2003-10-05, LOVE HUMANITY INDIA - East and West Join Forces: Orange Country Philanthropists Creating Homes for Children in India; Begin in Maharashtra Ketan Parekh, an Indo-American joins Louise Williams, an American, to form Love Humanity India for the purpose of addressing two issues in India. 1) Child abuse and neglect and 2) Homelessness of children. The organizaiton`s goals are to teach parenting skills to individuals who care for children and by creating as close to normal homely environments for orphaned children with a maximum of six children in a home under the care of a well trained married couple acting as parent/teachers.TUSTIN, CA(PRWEB)October 1 2003-- Approximately two years ago, international marketing consultant, Louise Williams, was asked by her client, Ketan N. Parekh, CEO of Netinfo, Inc., what she would do if she had all the money in the world. Her answer without hesitation was, ‘I would go to India and create homes for children.’ Parekh then encouraged her to do just that by saying that if she went to India and found people wanting to participate, he would help raise money in the United States so the work could begin.
Taking Parekh at his word, Williams closed up her affairs, went to India, began reviewing research on orphans and found that, according to a study entitled Children on the Brink 2002 by USAID, there were 26 million orphans in India between the ages of birth and 14 years of age. In addition, a different study found that 42.5% of India’s children suffer from physical abuse–2 out of 4 girls, and 1 out of 6 boys are sexually abused, while 49.1% of India’s children are severely psychologically abused.
These figures astounded Williams, and she knew that in order for these children to become self-sufficient adults instead of a burden on society something had to be done, so she began sharing with individuals both in India and the U.S. the extent of the problems of child neglect and abuse in India. Williams, a former advertising executive who owned her own firm, grew up in a family with abuse and later having a woman teach her how to parent her own daughter knows first hand that child abuse can be prevented by teaching those who care for children how to care for them in a loving, safe manner. In regards to orphans and neglect, it is important to provide as close to a normal homely family environments so these children are loved and encouraged so they can grow into self-sufficient adults.
In response, Williams and Parekh recently founded Love Humanity India, a new charitable organization in Maharashtra, India for the purpose of empowering children. The organization expects to accomplish the above goals by educating individuals who care for children how to use proper skills in teaching and raising them and by creating homes for up to six children where they are placed with well trained married couples acting as parent/teachers.
For U.S.-based operations, they chose to become a project of Foster India Foundation (FIF), a non-profit organization in Cerritos, CA committed to providing financial aid for organizations focused on aiding the underprivileged of India. FIF is founded by Navneet Chugh, managing partner of The Chugh Firm, Cerritos, CA, which provides legal and tax services to a diversified range of companies in the U.S. and internationally, with branch offices in Silicon Valley and New York.
Ask Williams, ‘Why India?’ and she will reply, “Its my passion! Since first visiting India in 1989, I have always wanted to do something for her children. For over 30 years I have volunteered for charities involved with children’s issues, which include: Childhelp USA, Exchange Club and Children’s Bureau of Orange County and I honestly believe India is from 30 to 40 years behind America in recognizing and dealing with the problems of abuse and in properly caring for her abandoned and neglected children.”
