2003-12-08, LIFTING AS WE CLIMB - Founder, Cathy Cousear says books will be donated to various community groups and a small village in Zambia, Africa.(PRWEB) December 6 2003--Illiteracy is a problem that contiunes to affect the world globally. Many schools and libraries have felt the impact due to budget cuts. Lack of reading material will affect our future generation. Lifting As We Climb is dedicated to strengthening the African American community by recruiting and coordinating a network of volunteers for a variety of volunteer projects. LAWC celebrates Kwanzaa through the value principle of Umojo (unity) and Ujima (collective work and responsibility). During Kwanzaa, individuals, families, businesses, professionals, schools, community organizations and churches will have an opportunity to give back to the community by donating any books new or used. Organizations and churches, and businesses can sponsor a book drive to help others in need. Books will also be sent Luanshya, Zambia. Luanshya is a small town in Zambia where people have suffered tremendous losses both socially and economically. In Luanshya, there is a high incidence of AIDS and poverty. The only library in Luanshya is dilapidated has and has been plundered. What to donate: Reference books, novels, children books, magazines, dictionaries, and text books.
