Release by WWW.GIRLFRIDAYINK.COM 2004-10-20, WWW.GIRLFRIDAYINK.COM - “GirlFridayInk.com Empowers Domestic Violence Survivors One Résumé at a Time.”Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 20, 2004 -- In recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, October, www.GirlFridayInk.com, will provide Professional Power Résumé-Writing Services free of charge to domestic violence survivors from October 20-31, 2004.
Each year, an estimated 1.5 million women and 834,000 men are physically abused by their current or former intimate partner or spouse, according to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia (http://www.cdc.gov/ncipc/dvp/dvam.htm). Additionally, one in four American women state that they are or have been physically abused by an intimate partner. “Domestic violence destroys people, families and communities everyday. Domestic violence, on any level, is intolerable. www.GirlFridayInk.com is committed to improving the quality of life for survivors of domestic violence by offering free Power Résumé-Writing Services in observance of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month,” states Professional Power Resume Writer and owner of www.GirlFridayInk.com, K. G. Weathers.
National Domestic Violence Month evolved from the Day of Unity first observed in October 1981 by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The first Domestic Violence Awareness Month was observed in October 1987. For more information, visit the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence: http://www.ncadv.org/community/dvamonth.htm “As a woman and survivor of domestic violence, I feel it’s my duty to give back by observing National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. There were so many people that helped me escape my situation; the only re-payment I can give them is to help someone else,” states Weathers.
To qualify for free Power Résumé Writing-Services, the domestic violence survivor must: 1) be a resident of a domestic violence shelter and 2) have a valid restraining order. The information will be processed and verified through the shelter with a strict adherence to confidentiality and anonymity.
“Domestic violence doesn’t only leave physical scars; it leaves deep emotional wounds and directly impacts the survivor’s self-esteem and self-worth. Survivors of domestic violence often have a difficult time re-entering the workforce, due to low self-esteem. Professionally written résumés boost confidence and significantly improve job interview success rates. My clients, for instance, are more confident and secure job opportunities in less than average time, usually within a few weeks. I would love to provide the same service to domestic violence survivors and watch their confidence soar. We all need confidence boosters from time to time,” says Weathers.
www.GirlFridayInk.com is owned by K. G. Weathers, a Professional Power Résumé Writer and domestic violence survivor. To learn more about free Power Résumé-Writing Services, please contact her by phone at: (678) 565-9538, by email at: .
