2005-02-14, Creative Rays - Isabella Blackney, 9, inspired by the news and President Bush, concludes tsunami relief effort by achieving her goal to raise $2005.REDMOND (PRWEB) -- Isabella Blackney, 9, of MA Lynch Elementary School appeared at a school assembly this morning with great news. As she entered the Lynch Cubs gymnasium, the song that became her theme, "Awful, Beautiful Life" by Darryl Worley played over the chatter of her fellow students. During the last week of her winter vacation, she was inspired by the graphic images of destruction. But more importantly, it was the faces of the young children - orphaned, homeless and without hope that drove her to launch the Kids to Kids project. A fan of President George W. Bush, Isabella used the USA Freedom Corps website to find a credible charity. She chose the American Red Cross. Today, she presented Andy Zook of the Oregon Mountain River Chapter of the American Red Cross with a check for $2005.00. Miss Blackney and the Lynch student body achieved their goal with hard work, personal sacrifice and the assistance of the Central Oregon community. Isabella thanked the following leaders for contributing to the success of the project: Dr. Dora Kingsley, CEO of Trenton West in Sacramento, California; Sandy Garner of The Garner Group in Bend, Oregon; and "Radio Lia" of the Jones Radio Network. Lia is a nationally syndicated Country Music Host with more than 3 million dedicated listeners. Jones Radio is a subsidiary of Jones Media which owns Great American Country, a cable television network. Below is the text of her letter to President Bush and a letter to Darryl Worley. Isabella wishes to extend her heartfelt thanks to all of the students, faculty and families of MA Lynch Elementary School. And most of all, to her principal, Michael McIntosh for being the best principal a student could ever wish for. Dear President Bush: Thank you for the USA Freedom Corps website. I used it to find the American Red Cross. My project, Kids to Kids, had a goal of $2005. We reached it! The money will help kids in Southeast Asia to get medicine, food, water and shelter. A lot of kids and adults helped reach the goal. They brought piggy-banks and bags of change. Lia from a radio station all the way in Nashville helped too. My Aunt Sandy even gave $200. Wow! Thank you for inspiring me. Love, Isabella Dear Darryl: When I saw the pictures of all the kids left alone and scared after the tsunami struck on December 26, 2004, I wanted to help them. I was inspired by the news and President Bush. I started my Kids to Kids project. Your song, Awful Beautiful Life, became my theme song because that`s just how life is. I set a goal of $2005. We reached it! :-) Kids at my school brought in their piggy banks and bags of change. Adults helped too! Thank you for your music!
