The MOU was officially approved on Feb 11, 2005, by Dr Douglass Capogrossi, President, Akamai University, and signed earlier by Dom. Klaus Schlapps, OPR, President, Regency of Lomar. The initial term for the MOU is two (2) years from Feb 11, 2005, and can be renewed thereafter.
The purpose of affiliation
The affiliating organizations, Akamai University and Regency of Lomar, being like-minded organizations with missions that are mutually supportive of one another, seek to join forces through a limited form of institutional affiliation to work together to support the successful achievement of both organizations` purposes. While as affiliates, both organizations remain fully autonomous organizations, freely electing to join forces to some degree toward human betterment.
Under the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by both organizations, Akamai University will be the exclusive and official distance learning tertiary education institution for the Regency of Lomar (ROL), for the benefit of ROL beneficiaries, which can be refugees or unrepresented people under the care of ROL missions around the world. Akamai University will provide tiered tuition reductions for its learning programs for ROL officials and beneficiaries, especially programs related to non-profit management.
ROL officials, by virtue of their hands-on fieldwork in administering humanitarian aid, will provide insights to improving Akamai University`s curriculum design and delivery of academic programs related to non-profit management and other programs intended to advance the human condition.
"From its conception, the mission of Akamai University has been predicated on the premise that amelioration of world problems and the creation of sustainable lifestyles and global practices are the hallmarks of responsible individual and corporate world citizenship," says Dr Douglass Capogrossi, President, Akamai University. "As a young institution, we have been careful in the selection of our friends, thereby assuring our companions to be likeminded with Akamai. At the same time, we can provide our own practical field experience to lend scenarios and case studies to Akamai`s curriculum. We can also offer the opportunities for practical outreach for Akamai`s graduate students.
